Parametrised bar recursion: A unifying framework for realizability interpretations of classical dependent choice

چکیده
During the last twenty years or so a wide range of realizability interpretations of classical analysis have been developed. In many cases, these are achieved by extending the base interpreting system of primitive recursive functionals with some form of bar recursion, which realizes the negative translation of either countable or countable dependent choice. In this work we present the many variants of bar recursion used in this context as instantiations of a general, parametrised recursor, and give a uniform proof that under certain conditions this recursor realizes a corresponding family of parametrised dependent choice principles. From this proof, the soundness of most of the existing bar recursive realizability interpretations of choice, including those based on the Berardi-BezemCoquand functional, modified realizability and the more recent products of selection functions of Escardó and Oliva, follows as a simple corollary. We achieve not only a uniform framework in which familiar realizability interpretations of choice can be compared, but show that these represent just simple instances of a large family of potential interpretations of dependent choice principles.

Bar Recursion in Classical Realisability: Dependent Choice and Continuum Hypothesis
This paper is about the bar recursion operator in the context of classical realizability. The pioneering work of Berardi, Bezem, Coquand [1] was enhanced by Berger and Oliva [2]. Then Streicher [12] has shown, by means of their bar recursion operator, that the realizability models of ZF, obtained from usual models of λ-calculus (Scott domains, coherent spaces, . . . ), satisfy the axiom of depe...
متن کاملBar recursion in classical realisability : dependent choice and well ordering of R
This paper is about the bar recursion operator [9], in the context of classical realizability [6, 7]. It is a sequel to the three papers [1, 2, 10]. We use the definitions and notations of the theory of classical realizability as expounded in [5, 6, 7].1 In [1], S. Berardi, M. Bezem and T. Coquand have shown that a form of the bar recursion operator can be used, in a proof-program correspondenc...
متن کاملTyped realizability for first-order classical analysis
We describe a realizability framework for classical first-order logic in which realizers live in (a model of) typed λμ-calculus. This allows a direct interpretation of classical proofs, avoiding the usual negative translation to intuitionistic logic. We prove that the usual terms of Gödel’s system T realize the axioms of Peano arithmetic, and that under some assumptions on the computational mod...
متن کاملThe Peirce translation
We develop applications of selection functions to proof theory and computational extraction of witnesses from proofs in classical analysis. The main novelty is a translation of minimal logic plus Peirce’s law into minimal logic, which we refer to as the Peirce translation, as it eliminates uses of Peirce’s law. When combined with modified realizability this translation applies to full classical...
متن کاملUnifying Functional Interpretations
The purpose of this article is to present a parametrised functional interpretation. Depending on the choice of the parameter relations one obtains well-known functional interpretations, such as Gödel’s Dialectica interpretation, Diller-Nahm’s variant of the Dialectica interpretation, Kohlenbach’s monotone interpretations, Kreisel’s modified realizability and Stein’s family of functional interpr...
